multipleMISCELLANEOUSalliances (mMa) is an ongoing, unwieldy, ever-proliferating series of linkages and collaborative connections across diverse clusters of people across Melbourne and Sydney. It is a series of projects both pocketed and piggy-backing on top of and in-between other projects. It criss-crosses and interlopes between art spaces, web forums, telephone calls, lounge-rooms, email messages, chunks of collaborative production, public actions and face to face dialogues. It is an experiment with the construction of relations based in ever-shifting negotiations and cascading possibilities. It is transient, ongoing, confusing, delirious, playful, overwhelming and earnest. It is open-source, anti-copyright, independent and un-controllably miscellaneous!

Emerging publicly at CLUBSproject spaces between May 26th and June 10th – mMa consists of a series of collaborative events, objects, documentation and information by and between people whose practices construct, explore and enact multiple social relations. mMa seeks to be a plastic framework for the facilitation of connections between people, events and open-source information.

multipleMISCELLANEOUSalliances operates as a sub-strain of CLUBS, compressed into an intensive event, and seeks to form a concrete dialogue and zone of constructive difference to the overall umbrella project being resistance through rituals co-ordinated by Lisa Kelly. mMa is an experiment in expanding a productive critical dialogue in response to another larger organizational project, and a context for generating connections between multiple individual + collaborative practices.

For more information on the companion project resistance through rituals, visit http://www.westspace.org.au/projects/resistance.htm

During mMa CLUBS transformed into a collaborative studio-laboratory for planned and impromptu activities. It housed a temporary and accumulating archive for artist publications and texts connected to the events, as well as material from other people locally and internationally. A photocopier and internet connection was active for the further distribution of information. A lounge and reading room was made available for public use.

More information, images, diagrams and catalogue (volumMa) is coming soon!
