Developing a Project

CLUBSproject asks those who would like to develop a project to consider its relationship to the aims of CLUBS. We ask that artists generate work in response to the model that we offer. We seek to experiment with modes of presentation, we are therefore interested in facilitating a variety of projects that include, but extend the possibilities beyond, a model of display. Forms that projects might take include launches, workshops, discussions, extended developmental projects, exhibitions, performances, publications (artists books, essays, zines), curatorial experiments etc. We ask applicants to consider the myriad possibilities for engagement with CLUBS, both as an actual space and as a discursive condition. Flexibility and adaptability are required in the approach one brings to engaging with CLUBSproject.  Other projects may overlap and coincide with yours.

If possible applicants to CLUBS should visit the space and discuss their ideas with the committee members before submitting proposals.

You can email us at clubsproject@123mail.org with an expression of interest and a brief outline of what you intend to do. One of the committee members will contact you to arrange a meeting. You are asked to bring whatever material you consider relevant to communicate your intentions. Material might include slides, video, text etc., depending upon the nature of your work.

The committee will discuss the project at length. Often, this does not comprise of a simple acceptance or rejection of a project, but may result in ongoing conversations with the applicant. We anticipate that dialogue between incoming artists and CLUBS will be mutually beneficial and contribute to the evolution of our model.

Provided by CLUBS

An email notice per project to over 1000 people and building. This email is formatted with the CLUBS logo and details. Artists are invited to provide an introduction to their project consisting of any sort of text and/or image to attach to the notice. (Please note CLUBS does not do a hard mail out for each exhibition; however, we encourage artists to organise the production and distribution of invitations.)

Inclusion of digital images and associated material generated by your project in our archive. If you provide a CD, we can burn these images for your own reference.

If required, CLUBS will operate a bar at the launch of projects. (Beverages must be for sale and as part of our sponsorship deal can only be those distributed by the pub.)
