We are working towards building an archive of artists books, zines, compilations of texts, interviews, video and objects. We began this in 2003 and currently have a small collection of donations. We envisage this becoming a kind of resource where peers can access information and material that is of an independent and current nature.
In June 2003 we launched this in conjunction with Karin de Jong’s ‘printROOM’ from Rotterdam . For 3 weeks, the annex functioned as a reading room with hundreds of local and international artist publications. In 2004 we will host a similar project.
Also, we ask that those who work with us consider contributing a ‘dossier’ of collected material that relates to the projects they do at CLUBS. This will form an information file that the public will also be welcome to access in the future.
Volumeveryone 2003
In conjunction with the printROOM, we launched our first publication. This was a collection of page work from all the artists who worked with us between September 2002 – June 2003.
We encourage publication projects by practitioners of all disciplines. If you have an idea for a publication, and would like to work in tandem with CLUBS, or have a publication that you would like to launch through CLUBS, please send us an email.

24 hour love (CLUBS in the pines) 2004
CLUBSproject members travelled to the art school in Gippsland to work on a collaborative zine; made with the assistance and contributions of students from Monash University, (Gippsland). This zine was based on the theme '24 hour love'. Running parallel to this was an installation made for the Switchback gallery, which involved the setting up of a temporary library for the display of the CLUBSproject archive. All materials and objects in the installation were scavenged together from Monash Gippsland campus, based on the idea of a bower bird building and improvising a nest.
volumeverything 2005
CLUBS will be participating in the celebrations of the Gertrude 20th anniversary by setting up a production space and reading room in the back offices. From there, we'll be producing our 5th publication, VOLUMEVERYTHING. It will comprise of text and image from the meshwork of people connected to and from CLUBS. Each committee member will organise a ‘chapter’, asking their participants to respond to a chosen idea or proposal. We'll be organising and compiling this publication on site, and hosting our archive there in collaboration with Sandra Bridie.
100 editions of VOLUMEVERYTHING will be made available towards the end of the project, and will be published on our website by the end of 2005.
